From our social media series, #RecoyaDigsRecordShops.
Here’s a roundup of the record shops Recoya dug and the records we discovered in Oct 2026.
If you spot a record shop that catches your eye, be sure to check it out.

This album captures the fervor of the August 15, 1965, Shea Stadium in New York, packed with over 50,000 spectators.
Although titled “LAST LIVE SHOW,” it wasn’t actually the Beatles’ last live performance. However, the overwhelming power that captivated the world is palpable in the performances of “Twist and Shout,” “Help!”, and “I’m Down,” played amidst the cheers of the crowd!
The sound quality and album cover are a bit rough around the edges, but the way it retains the atmosphere of that time is incredibly fascinating.
My first time listening to Cuban music. The shop owner even asked me, “Do you usually listen to Cuban music!?”
Indeed, it’s quite rare to find Cuban music on the shelves when browsing record stores.
When I listened to it, it was just as cheerful as I imagined!
The lively rhythm and vocals, the sounds layering one after another!
Apparently, it’s a tribute album to the great Cuban singer Beny Moré, performed by La Charanga De La 4.
It’s different from jazz; there’s a feeling of everyone making music together and enjoying the moment.
I realized that discovering music I’d never heard before by chance is one of the joys of browsing record stores!
When you think of German music from the 70s, you usually picture German rock and Krautrock, so I bought this album because I realized I didn’t know anything about folk music from Germany! The album has a clear, crisp atmosphere, almost like a chilly day, especially with the solo folk feel of Rufus Zuphall’s “I’m On My Way” at the end!
The moment you drop the needle, the air in the room becomes a little more urban. George Benson’s “THE BEST.”
This album, while centered on jazz, naturally blends the comforting elements of soul, funk, and pop. What’s most captivating is the smooth, lustrous guitar tone. It’s easy to listen to, yet if you listen carefully, you’ll be amazed by the skill of the playing.
It’s perfect for listening to in the afternoon, or while enjoying a drink in the evening. It’s an easy-to-enjoy best-of album that you’ll find yourself dropping the needle on again and again.
Haruomi Hosono’s new album. I’d been listening to it on streaming services, but the bass was so strong that I wanted to hear it on vinyl, so I bought it. I wanted to listen to it right away, so I looked for a store in Kobe that sells new records, and it seemed like Kanko Records had it, so I went there. I bought a few other records along with Hosono’s. It’s fun to find stores that sell both new and used records.
My second Ghibli post.
I didn’t see Spirited Away in real time; I remember finally seeing it when I was in my 30s.
Just listening to the music, starting with “One Summer’s Day,” transports me to the world of the film.
Listening to it again, I realize how amazing Joe Hisaishi is not only at creating catchy melodies, but also at evoking landscapes and emotions.
Also, like with Kiki’s Delivery Service (which I posted about previously), there are grand, epic pieces as well as quiet, slightly melancholic ones, making the emotions of the characters in the story feel even stronger.
Every record and record store featured here was discovered by actually stepping inside and exploring.
Why not head out and see what records are waiting for you at a store nearby?
