Rediscovering the Joy of Record Shops at Recoya Fair 2026

Thank you for visiting
Recoya Fair 2026.

At Recoya Fair 2026, held in Kobe in May 2026, we had the chance to talk with many visitors about music and record shops while standing at the register.

A small child told us,
“It was fun finding records I knew! My dad bought one for me!”

Someone who came with friends said,
“I usually go to the same record shop because I like the owner, so it’s fun to have so many different shops gathered in one place.”

We also heard people talk about record shops as part of their lifestyle, saying things like,
“Going to a record shop gives me a reason to go outside and take a walk.”

One comment that especially stayed with us was:

“There’s probably a feeling that you don’t really want to tell others about a record shop where you found something great. But for people who don’t know those shops yet, those are exactly the kinds of places they want to discover.”

That really made us think. Record shops are, in a way, curious places.

Some feel like secret bases, and some may seem to have a strong regular-customer culture.

But once you actually step inside, many shop owners talk to you, introduce you to music you didn’t know, and make you want to come back again.

Record shops are not only places to find records. They are also places where you can connect with people and the city around you.

Through this year’s Recoya Fair, we were reminded of that once again.

“Digatta” is an activity
for sharing record shop experiences.

Recoya’s “Digatta” is not a review feature for rating record shops.

It is not just about saying,
“This shop was like this,”
“The prices were good,”
or “I found a rare record.”

More than that, we want it to be a place where people can share the experience itself:

“I had this kind of conversation with the shop owner.”
“I happened to stop by while traveling.”
“I didn’t know the genre, but the owner recommended it, so I gave it a try.”

You don’t need to have deep knowledge.

Even a feeling like, “I don’t really understand it yet, but it was fun,”
is something we believe is a very important part of “Digatta.”

Someone’s “Digatta”
can become someone else’s first step.

“This shop looks easy to visit.”
“I want to go to this city.”
“I didn’t know records like this existed.”

Sometimes, seeing someone else’s Digatta makes us feel that way.

Record shops can feel a little intimidating at first.

But just seeing the words of someone who has actually been there can make that distance feel a little smaller.

That experience may then encourage someone else to visit a record shop.

We would be happy if that kind of cycle continues to grow, little by little.

We are launching
the “Digatta Fair.”

When you post a “Digatta” activity on Recoya and apply, you’ll have a chance to win goods provided by record shops and supporting companies from across Japan.

“Maybe I’ll go to a record shop again.”
“I’m curious about the record shops in that city.”
“Maybe I’ll share something about the record I bought.”

We hope to create more of these small moments.

And through record shops, we hope connections between people, cities, and music will gradually continue to grow.

At Recoya, we would love to nurture that joy together with all of you.

Digatta Fair starts on June 1, 2026.
