Here’s a roundup of the record shops Recoya dug and the records we discovered in April 2026.
If you spot a record shop that catches your eye, be sure to check it out.

This is the tenth album by Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti. I already owned some of his other works, but this one stands out as particularly elegant, rock-influenced, and melodic, leaning towards AOR.
Kakutani (1959-1990) was a legendary punk/psychedelic rock musician who was active in the Japanese underground scene of the 1980s. Newly discovered recordings from the belongings of Nakajima Ramo are now on sale! Let’s immerse ourselves in the sound at maximum volume, along with “Kusayuku Telepathy”!
A captivating album where jazz fusion and Brazilian music blend together at a high density and level. Produced by Hermeto Pascoal!! Purchased (online) from 16RECORDS OFFICE&SHOP, which recently opened in Kisarazu. They have a great selection of hip hop and R&B, and I’d love to visit the store!
It’s a guitar duo, but it’s an acoustic work where organic sounds, not just guitars, fill the room. When I visited MY, it was displayed face up on a shelf, and before I knew it, I had picked it up. I got my hands on a record that’s hard to come by!
A classic album from David Crosby in 1971. Featuring a plethora of guest appearances, this is a folk, acid folk, and folk-rock album.
With Neil Young, Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Joni Mitchell, and many others, it’s perfect for when you want to immerse yourself in vocals and harmonies. I found it in good condition and purchased it from Workshop.
This album is a collection of early songs from around 1970-1974 by Rupert Holmes, a well-known artist in the AOR genre. I don’t really understand it yet, but it’s a fun album with soft rock-like melodies!
Four artists have reinterpreted and re-imagined songs by Indonesian rock legend Harry Roesli! From Indonesia, Komodo and Midnight Runners; from Japan, Kaoru Inoue and Chida. It seems to be not widely available, and I was introduced to this album while asking for recommendations for recent Asian music. (I was also shocked to discover BAP., another band I was introduced to, as I had never heard of them before.) It’s fun to listen to this kind of mysterious music that transcends time and genre.
This is the debut album of legendary drummer/vocalist Doug Hammond, originally scheduled for release on the popular NY spiritual jazz label STRARA-EAST. The music features instruments like violin, Fender Rhodes, synthesizers, and even vocals, making it a blend of jazz and black music.
It’s been a while since I’ve listened to STRARA-EAST, and it was a fun dig where I found exactly what I wanted, regardless of genre! Thank you!
I mentioned that I often listen to Ulfuls, and this was the album they recommended to me.
The cool songs immediately resonated with me.
My body naturally started moving to the rhythm!
